How to care about bras

When you've FINALLY found the right bra, for sure you want to keep it nice and supportive for a long time. Especially if you have some more expensive bras. For this reason, you should know how to take care of your bra. Let's have a look: 

The best way is to hand-wash!

If you want to keep the fine material of your lingerie beautiful for a long time, the best way is to hand-wash your bras. Fill a basin with cold or tepid water.

  • Add some delicate washing powder to your water-filled basin. You can also use a baby shampoo with reduced foaming. Never ever add fabric softener!
  • Let your bra soak in the soapy water for about 5 minutes. Thus the molecules of soap or washing powder really soak into your bra. If you skip this part, your bra will not be clean!
  • Now, let's talk about "hand wash". It really doesn't mean to get your bra wet and rinsed in the water. With gently rubbing your fingers clean all parts of the bra. Remember, of course, the whole bra band and shoulder straps.
  • Once your bra is really washed, drain the water from the basin, and again fill it with cold water. Now you have to get rid of the washing powder. Leave your bra in this clean water for about five more minutes. If you like you can 'tickle' your bra in the clean water for a while.
  • Never squeeze or twist your bra to get rid of the water! You can deform the underwire. Just gently squeeze the cups with your fingers to get rid of the water at least a bit.
  • Never put your bra in the dryer or in direct sunlight. Instead, hang it on the clothes dryer. When hanging, arrange the bra shape nicely. Never put your bras to dry on the heater, it could shrink or curl.
     
If you really want to wash your bras in a washing machine, keep in mind the following tips:
  • It is very important to fasten the hooks before you put your bras into the washing machine. After that put the bra in a special washing bag to prevent possible wear of you bra, deformation and so.
  • Set your washing machine on some delicate program and lowest temperture. When adding the washing powder, follow the advices for hand washing. Never add fabric softener!
  • After washing, dry the clothes as well as in the case of hand washing - see above.
