Bra myths

Myth: If I go to lingerie store a shop assistant will always get me the right fitting bra!

A large number of women who went for a professional fitting got fitted with the wrong size. This is because most stores sell a poor range of sizes and the salesperson's final goal is to sell you a bra. So yes, they will try to convince you that the size they have in stock is the right for you. Why to rely on the confused shop assistant when you can be your own bra-fitter? Myth: Bra cups have fixed sizes - A cup is small, B cup is bigger and so on. For example C cup could not be smaller than B cup!

This is the biggest myth ever! The cup size changes in proportion to the bra band. So, 60B, 70B and 80B will have very different cups!

In contrast, bra size 65D (30D) and 70B (32B) will have circa the same cup size. How is that even possible? If you want to have a smaller bra band you need proportionally larger cup size. So, if you wear size 70B (32B) and you want a smaller bra band, you have to enlarge the cup size, that means your new bra size will be 65C (30C).

Myth: The bra band should be comfortable at first place!

You have to realize that the bra band has to do 90% of the supporting work, so it has to be tight! Only a tight bra band can stay in the right position without any riding up or anywhere else. The bra should be tight enough that you can fit only two or three fingers under the band. The right band is the tightest size that you can wear comfortably.

Are you afraid that the tight bra band will create a fat on your back? This is really not truth. If you have the right band size, the back of the bra will be lower, where is less back fat, and nothing will be visible.

This is really NOT your perfect fit! This band size is too big!

Myth: Cups are available in sizes A - D and band from 75 (34) to 85 (38)!

Good lingerie stores offer bras in ninety different sizes! Cups range from AA till K, and band sizes from 55 (26) to 90 (40). So why you still want to limit yourself to 75B (34B)?

Myth: The most common size is 75B (34B)!

Most stores offer a very poor range of sizes, so women think that they must fit in those. So women buy a 75B and by the time it seems normal to adjust a bra several times a day or that the breasts move out below the cups. This, however, is more harmful than you could even think.

Myth: If you have small breasts, you need to wear push-up bras!

The problem with push-up bras is that breasts are in an unnatural position and bra pads usually squash and kneed the breast tissue that holds the shape of breasts. So even a smaller bust can easily sag and you will be left with only two sagged socks. Therefore, push-up bras should be reserved only for special occasions. A soft bra in the right size will lift up and present your breasts in a way you've probably never expected, and you'll discover that you look much better in them than in a push-up! All you have to do is to find your perfect fitting bra. Still not convinced? Look at the difference between a push-up bra and properly fitting bra here!

Myth: I have big breasts so I can’t wear a strapless bra!

As explained above, it is the bra band which supports your breasts. So the correct fitting strapless bra can be worn even if you have large breasts - unless they are really big.
